The Jose Marie Q. Almirante Medical Scholarship Foundation launches a medical mission

medical mission The Jose Marie Q. Almirante Medical Scholarship Foundation headed by its director, Atty. Eduardo Q. Almirante Jr., CPA in cooperation with the Cekas Development Corporation, headed by its CEO Mr. Rafael Magsaysay and the G39 Development Corporation, under its President, Engr. Gilbert Besana, recently held a joint medical and dental mission at the remote Barangay of Dansolihon, Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City last Sept 25, 2011 (Sunday).

It is noteworthy to mention that the Jose Marie Q. Almirante Medical Scholarship Foundation is being funded by Odyssey Driving School. The latter being in the forefront of every road safety campaign in the society in furtherance of its corporate social responsibility as a true advocate on road safety and at the same time funds the foundation named as the JOSE MARIE Q. ALMIRANTE MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION which Odyssey Driving School is heartily dedicated to fund. The Jose Marie Q. Almirante Medical Scholarship Foundation aims to help deserving but less fortunate students who desire to become doctors at the Dr. Jose P. Rizal College of Medicine at Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan).

More than 200 residents of this poor barangay were able to gain access not only to quality and free medicines but more importantly to professional advices and services from highly qualified, knowledgeable and competent volunteer dentists and medical doctors. The beneficiaries were mostly indigenous peoples like the Higaonons composed of 13 tribes in 13 barangays in Cagayan de Oro city where Barangay Dansolihon is located.

“Artecia Habla, a lumad and one of the beneficiaries of the mission said her children including her who had health problems were checked up by Doctors and Dentists and received foods and medicines. Habla was one of the many poorest of the poor recipient families in Sitio Iba in Barangay Dansolihon who were beneficiaries for free medicine distribution apart from getting free medical and dental treatment at the mission. Meanwhile, a member of Cubayan family expressed gratitude that they were included as one of beneficiaries who belonged to the poorest of the poor in Sitio Balongkot. Teary-eyed Cubayan who was also given free snacks, breakfast and lunch meals approached and thanked Atty. Eduardo Q. Almirante Jr., CPA (the founder of Odyssey driving school and serves as the director of the Jose Marie Q. Almirante Medical Scholarship Foundation) as well as Engr Besana of G39 Development Corporation and Rafael Magsaysay of Cekas Development Corporation who were present at the mission.” (Associated Press)
